"Create - Calgary's New Children's Festival" will run from May 24-26, 2019 at Doherty Hall on Stampede Park 623 13 Ave SE. Elementary and preschool aged children will have an opportunity to enjoy a diverse cultural experience presented by Calgary artists.

To help guide the development of the festival, the team has outlined the following guiding principles:
-Present Fine Arts to children and their families in a fuss friendly, safe and relaxed environment.
-Consult with children on the planning and include them in the execution of the festival.
-Promote interaction and active engagement of children with different art forms to develop cultural awareness and emotional intelligence.
-Develop opportunities for intergenerational community building.
Word about our festival is spreading! Our team is growing daily as the community continues to reach out and ask "How can we help?". This year is the inaugural event and the first step towards establishing "Create" as a pillar in Calgary's festival season. In addition to volunteers, we need funding to ensure the success and sustainability of this festival.
"Create" was founded by Mandy Morris, a local jazz vocalist, children's entertainer and music educator who has called Calgary home for five years. She is a hardworking and passionate entrepreneur who envisions a Children's Festival that is accessible for all Calgary families and celebrates the local arts scene.

What can you expect at "Create"?
-Dance
-Music
-Theatre
-Visual arts
-Literary arts
-Yoga
This year we will be hosting over 35 Calgary based artists! They will be showcasing their talents at 11 main stage shows (ticketed) and a free stage a Shelf Life Books. There is also an interactive visual arts project designed by students at the University of Calgary that will grow through collaboration with the festival attendees. Programming decisions were made by consulting with the Children's Advisory Committee and their families.
