Coolidge Ag Project Replacement
Donation protected
The Coolidge ISD agriculture program was hit hard during the month of November. Students, from elementary to high school, lost their show animals to wild dogs. A total of 15 lambs, goats and pigs were killed. This was even after a joint attempt by the District and parents to protect the animals in the ag barn.
With Christmas around the corner, it's going to be hard for parents to quickly replace these animals so that the kids are ready for the spring, Limestone County show. Especially since most families have more than one child with a show animal. What is even more heartbreaking is that some students used their own money to purchase their animal and there is no way that they can save enough to replace them.
Coolidge is a tiny community with a huge heart! The kids here learn about working hard at an early age. While FFA starts in high school, most of these students started showing at the age of 6 (first grade). They learn how to be responsible and they take pride in their projects; even if they don't make it to show or sale. Many tears are shed once the show season is over because the kids grow so attached to their animals.
Sadly, those tears came sooner when the kids saw the gory slaughter site.
Our hope is to raise enough money to replace all 15 animals.
Thank you for your generosity!
