Compassion Walk 2016

Berenice's  Story
On March 2012 I started getting strange symptoms, first my fingertips became numb, then the numbness spread up my hand. A short time after, my eyes began to blur and my vision doubled.  After feeling this way, I quickly headed to see the doctor, where after several tests, all looked normal. For some reason, however, the symptoms worsened.

My doctor later sent me to a neurologist; after a full check, I was later told that my prognosis did not look good.  I received the news while at work and left my job that day feeling nervous, upset and fearful.  On May 1, the neurologist met with my husband and I and informed us that I had been diagnosed with MS.

This was a moment I will never forget. 

Still, I haven't stopped my life.  I am a Teachers Assistant, and a worship team member at my church. I stay active on a regular basis and I make sure that I find joy in every moment of my day. As I continue my treatments, I believe in the power of healing and I want my fight against Multiple Sclerosis to be inspiration for others who may have lost hope. 

Compassion's Mission
We have started this GoFundMe, in partnership with Berenice of Hope Church, with the goal of raising $550, funds which will go towards helping the research and development purposes at the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. We will also be participating alongside Berenice, and many others in the 2016 Multiple Sclerosis Walk of Staten Island, NY.

Compassion Ministry
Compassion is a New York City based, community outreach ministry, designed to communicate the love of Christ through service to others.

We work cooperatively with local and regional service agencies towards the rapid distribution of aid to those most vulnerable.
Areas of focus include: homeless outreach, adolescent intervention & mentoring, and community service.
