Colton Morgan Proton Radiation Fund

Donation protected
We are reluctant and even hesitant to write this, but some of you have expressed a desire to be a blessing and many of you to help beyond the initial cost analysis of Colton's prolonged recovery (we didnt expect a phase 2). This is a way for us to facilitate that desire.
Colton is a 15-year old young man who was diagnosed with a rare tumor called a Myxopapillary Ependymoma. He received surgery on September the 21st for the removal of the tumor and after a 9 hour and 5 min surgery we were told it was a success. It was a partial resection, not a total removal. Many of you gave during that time and the funds you gave previously have gotten us through to this point. BUT NOW, his team of Dr's are encouraging us to do 6 weeks/30 proton treatments because, as of last week, not only do they need to radiate the original tumor site but the entire spine and brain. They saw crystallization higher up on the spine and brain that makes them feel that the tumor cells have spread. Although it is ultimately our decision, they feel that the best recourse for a cure is to hit this tumor hard so that it doesn't grow back in 2-3 years. There will be temporary side affects (hair loss, nausea, loss of appetite, extreme fatigue and etc.) and permanent side affects; such as loss of growth hormone (he is as tall as he will grow at 5' 9") and other hormones that affect puberty will have to be replaced with synthetic hormone therapy. All of this will be very costly and we have built a budget that would help provide us with a place to live during these treatments and we need to stay as close as we can to the proton therapy facility (of which there are only 15 in the U.S.)
because travel will be very difficult for him and therapy is Monday - Friday for 6 weeks. Your giving will also help with airline tickets for his dad to visit during these treatments (as he travels and ministers from coast to coast), our day to day expenses and some medical costs (we do have ins). He begins his therapy on or around the 15th of November, therefore this need is pressing.

Colton is a brave young man who has faced this path that has been given to him to travel with great integrity. As his parents, we have been so proud to see how he has handled all of this. He has placed his trust in God, he has not questioned, but accepted this as God's plan for his life, knowing that God has some greater thing designed for him.

There are no words to express our gratitude for all of the sacrifices you have made already in this journey with us. But from our hearts to you, thank you for everything, most of all your support in prayer.

Sincerely,

Colton's Mom and Dad
