PRESENTING:
CLIMATE ORGANIZERS LEADING DETROIT (COLD)

This is GDI passing the baton to Youth, giving them a voice and opportunities to truly make a difference in their own community.

It is important for young people to get more involved in their community; especially learn how their environment effects them, and how they effect their environment in return. It's a cycle that needs more awareness.

The environment DOES affect our health and every day life, as we grow up mindlessly thinking about what's in the air we breathe and in the food we eat.

"The fix" could be so simple.
But! We're trying to do more than just recycle and plant trees to improve air quality... An essential element of COLD is to actually influence and participate in the development and implementation of policy solutions to climate change locally and abroad. We want to make more tangible and impactful changes!

It is critical that COLD becomes intrinsic to combating climate change, especially because without representation in the conversations that impact Detroit’s future, Detroit risks the consequences of being overlooked. And now Detroit has COLD to be a voice. COLD will participate in those policy development conversations by providing recommendations to local and international entities.


Here is one of own environmental leaders on the resource panel at an NAACP Public Mass Meeting discussing the needs and concerns of the community (during the Flint Water Crisis).

Our major goal is to send a Detroit delegation to engage in policy negotiating conversations amongst government, corporate, and non-profit leaders from around the world at the negotiations at United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change in Morocco, November 2016 

COLD will be participating in climate talks during a formal presentation co-hosted with the Historical Black Colleges and Universities Environmental Justice Consortium, and NAACP youth delegations.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
