Hello Folks!
The Coal Fields Amateur Radio Association is an organization of fellow Amateur Radio operators in the Eastern Kentucky and South-Western West Virginia.
The goal is to serve the communities in this area with First, Hospital Communications linkage; Second to provide a platform to aid emergency communications.; Third, to promote goodwill throughout these communicities of the coal fields as well education in Amateur Radio.
We are just starting up and in this region, due to constrictions placed upon the coal industry, many is out of work so we need funding in our projects throughout these communities.
First item is the cost of formation filling fees imposed by the states of Kentucky and West Virginia as well as the IRS for tax-exemption status.
The first physical projects is to re-establish the repeater system in the Williamson, West Virginia area from scratch and the second is to establish another repeater system in the Lancer area of Kentucky for microwave linkage.
These intails the costs of repeaters, coaxal hardlines, mounting equipment, programming of the repeaters and their associated controllers.
But first is to get the Constitution and the By-Laws established with the three governments and to pay their fees which is prety high.
Once that is done, then the real work gets going.
As mentioned of the repeaters in Williamson, West Virginia, they are :
#1 - 145.330-(127,3) 350' on EKB tower,
#2 - 224.140-(127.3) 300' on EKB tower,
#3 - 443.100+(127.3 350' on EKB tower,
#4 - A 440 Link radio to link into an existing repeater network at 400' on EKB Tower.
Acquition of three repeaters, #1 and #3 can be 100 watt MTR 2000; #2 will be a BridgeCom with 100 watt amp; #4 will be a Motorola radio with power set to have an 10 signat to the antenna.
3 runs of Comscope AVA7-50 hardline @ $4.00 a liner foot plus shipping. (1 - 400'; 1 - 350'; 1 - 300'.
3 Bird Duplexers from $1,000 and up.
Varrious connectors and fasteners.
3 19' rack cabinets at $600.00 each
Many other items in constructing controler and such along with a PC with Asterick installed for system control and access to AllStar Link as well on demand EchoLink systems.
That is the general idea for the initial system. Others will be added as time goes on
