Total Loss in SC Flood Disaster

Donation protected
I am Joan Marshall and I live in South Carolina.  The massive flooding has personally affected my son and his step brother's father.  Family members  are humbly asking your assistance.  Steve Marshall lived in the Lake Catherine area of Columbia, South Carolina.  He barely escaped the flooding with his life early Sunday morning as he awoke to rising flood waters in his home. Steve walked outside to chest high flood waters that were in his vehicle and home. Concerned about his elderly neighbors, one of whom was a World War I veteran, he moved to attempt to provide assistance without hesitation but quickly found himself swept downstream by rushing water that was over his head. God provided him with one of those magnificent tree branches that our son so loves...and he was able to hang on long enough to be rescued by one of South Carolina's finest.

When I answered the call from the unknown emergency number at 6:30 a.m., I heard Steve's familiar, but shaken voice, ask me "Where's Ryan?" as he was being transported to the hospital.

Ryan's father has and continues to be a long-time servant to the great state of South Carolina, always going beyond the call of duty to help others. I am sorry to say that his street was one of the areas affected worst by the flooding and as he approaches retirement, he has lost everything.

He, like all of our strong and resilient citizens affected by tragedy, will recover. However,  I have set up this GoFundMe account and am asking for your assistance...since Steve never would.  Ryan and I are also selling "Inspirations" calendars and note cards.  All proceeds will go directly to Steve as he begins to try to put his life back together from this devasting tragedy.

Please share this post on your Facebook page.  I am convinced that situations like this bring out the very best of humanity...and is the real value of social media!  If you are experiencing difficult experiences in your life, we invite you to visit our page at:

I think this video of Phillip Phillips depicts the feelings that all of us are having...we are so fortunate to have each other...and "Home".   May God be with all of those who don't.
