Sherburn High School Laser Cutter

Donation protected
At Sherburn High School we are working hard with our students to help them achieve their potential.  Last year’s GCSE cohort for Product Design achieved our best results ever.  Many of our current students are on track to achieve target grades within Design and Technology and some will hopefully surpass our expectations.  A considerable number of our GCSE students wish to continue their studies at post 16, whilst others intend to follow a work based study route, through apprenticeships with local businesses.

Unfortunately, we cannot offer a full CAD/CAM experience as we do not have sufficient facilities.   We are in desperate need of a laser cutter to enable our students to effectively cut, shape and engrave a range of resistant materials – wood, metal and plastic based.  We have undertaken fundraising events within the school but have been unable to raise sufficient funds to purchase the laser cutter.

Any monies would be put towards our laser cutter to enable the students to improve the quality of their GCSE coursework products. Our Key Stage 3 students would also benefit immensely, as they would be able to develop the skills which would lead them into GCSE designing.

Acknowledgement of donations will be featured on the school website.

Many thanks,
