About us:
Established in 2011, "Hoi Tu Thien Hong-An" (Charity Organization of God's Grace), also referred to as "Hong-An" (God's Grace), is a non-profit organization made up of a small group of Vietnamese priests, nuns, and religious supporters across the United States.
Hoi Tu Thien HONG-AN is a branch of an existing organization named Kontum Missionary and Friends (KMF). For donation purposes, this organization’s Federal Tax ID is 42-1757220.
WHAT WE DO:
Hong-An’s mission is to promote awareness and support for the underprivileged people in Vietnam. Due to the lack of resources, a large majority of Vietnam live in unfortunate living conditions no one should live their life by. Therefore, Hong-An strives to assist those who are elderly, handicapped, impoverished, orphaned children, and anyone who needs our help. By getting those in the greater Houston area involved in our mission, we hope to spread the word of our mission and to support these individual’s needs physically, mentally, and spiritually.

GoFundMe Project: Keeping the Poor Children in Kontum Warm
Kontum Gia Lai, a city located in the highlands of Central Vietnam, is known for its brutal and horrendous winters with strong winds and humidity. In addition to the unbearable weather, the majority of the citizens are extremely poor and disadvantaged. From being unable attend school due the severe weather, the lifestyle of the Kontum children is undoubtedly difficult.
After experiencing the struggles of the Kontum community firsthand, the Sisters of Miraculous Medal of Kontum (a group of Catholic nuns in Kontum) reached out to Hong-An for help. They told us about the children who walk barefoot to school and shiver in the frosty climate of the mountain forests. Even within their own homes they are unable to stay warm. We immediately knew that we had to help in any way we could.
In order to prepare the children for the harsh winter weather, we have decided to begin a jacket and blanket drive to those in Kontum Gia Lai. With a $10 donation, a child would be able to have a warm jacket or blanket that would help them warm. In order to have the clothes ready for the wintertime, we would love to reach our goal by February 16, 2018 (Vietnamese Lunar New Year), giving us time prepare the shipments. Any donation is appreciated!
With the winter holiday season approaching, it’s time to give and help those who cannot help themselves. A simple donation of only $10 can bring joy and warmth to a desperate child in need. ÁO ẤM
Nếu có dịp đến thăm Kontum Gia Lai, cao nguyên tại miền Trung Việt Nam vào mùa Đông, người ta không thể quên được hình ảnh những đứa bé người Dân Tộc thiểu số mà lúc nào cũng đầu trần, chân đất, lạnh co ro trong khí hậu khắc nghiệt, lạnh buốt của núi rừng. Nhiệt độ thấp đã vậy, lại còn thêm những cơn gió mạnh thổi đến, người lớn còn thấy rét, huống chi là trẻ em! Vì thế, thật xót xa khi thấy những em nhỏ trong những bộ quần áo phong phanh, có em mặt tím tái vì lạnh. Khi nhiệt độ xuống thấp thì cũng là thời gian mà các em học sinh người dân tộc thiểu số nghỉ học nhiều hơn cả, vì nhiệt độ lạnh quá, với bộ quần áo mong manh, các em không thể ngồi yên trong lớp mà không run lập cập.
Vì thế, không lạ gì khi các Sơ phục vụ cho dân nghèo cho biết rằng rất nhiều em nhỏ chỉ ước mong có được 1 tấm áo ấm, một tấm áo chống lạnh để các em không phải nghỉ học, không phải ốm lạnh khi mùa Đông đến. Với 10 đô la, các em sẽ được 1 chiếc áo ấm giúp các em được ấm áp trong nhiều năm.

Tương tự như thế, vào ban đêm, khi nhiệt độ giảm xuống thật thấp, các em cũng khó có được giấc ngủ ngon khi nằm co rút dưới đất, dưới nền xi măng lạnh lẽo. Đến thăm nhà các em, người ta mới thấy các em sống khổ cực ra sao. Căn “nhà” với vách trát bằng đất, chỗ lành, chỗ lở, gió lùa lạnh thấu xương.
Bên trong nhà trống trơn, không có gì giá trị và cũng chẳng có gì để giữ ấm. Nhiều đêm, cha mẹ các em phải đốt củi, làm “lò sưởi” ngay trong nhà để mọi người quây quần lại mà ngủ. Vì thế, mới xẩy ra việc có người vì nằm quá gần với “lò sưởi” nên bị bỏng da, bỏng thịt…!
Nhu cầu có được chiếc chăn ấm đắp vào ban đêm lại là 1 nhu cầu rất khẩn thiết, giúp các em giữ ấm cơ thể, tránh được nhiều bệnh tật. Và cũng với 10 đô la, các em sẽ có được 1 chiếc chăn ấm áp, được 1 giấc ngủ yên lành, ngon giấc, không còn thức giấc nhiều lần vì những cơn gió lạnh bên ngoài thổi vào.
Vì thế, chúng con xin kêu mời quý vị, các ân nhân, bạn bè, thân thuộc cùng tiếp tay với chúng con trong Chương Trình “Giữ Ấm Trẻ Em Kontum – Keeping the Children in Kontum Warm”.
