City of Hope

Hi Folks,

I am off to Africa on Tuesday. I plan to spend 3 months working at the City of Hope Lusaka, Zambia. This is a mission run by the Salesian Sisters. They run an orphanage for children who have lost their parents to aids. They also run a number of schools and other facilities on the mission.

As a retired teacher I expect to be involved with teaching English and teacher training. Since I am a musican I will bring an instrument with me and also hope to be engaged in the musical life of the mission. 

I am paying all of my own expenses including flights. While in Zambia I will be staying on the mission as a guest of the sisters and will make a weekly contribution out of my own pocket towards the cost of my keep.

I am setting up this campaign to give the opportunity to those good people who want to support the mission. None of this money will be spent on my costs. The money will be spent on resources for the classroom and the children. 

I will leave this page open for the duration of my trip. 

I would like to thank all the people who have been offering their support. I will keep you updated through Facebook over the coming weeks.
