Many children in Zambia don’t go to school and hang out on the capitals dusty street, surrounded by drugs and alcohol. Circus Zambia offers an alternative. Through circus training, school support and life skills training we mentor Zambia’s youth into healthy, happy and confident individuals.

Growing Up In Chibolya
Circus Zambia is founded by Gift Chansa, Amos Malokwa and Benard Kaumba. These, now 25 year old, acrobats are born and raised in a township called Chibolya, in Zambias capital Lusaka. Chibolya is known for its lack of facilities, high level of poverty, drugs and criminality.

Around 80% of the 20.000 inhabitants of Chibolya are under 14 years of age.
Growing up in these dusty streets of Chibolya, Gift, Amos and Benard saw a lot of their friends and family spiral into a life of criminality. The thing that made these boys different was their passion: acrobatics. Their love for the arts and circus ensured they made positive life choices and took care of their health and their families.  The acrobats had the opportunity to develop their talent, travel the world and even study acrobatics in China. This summer they are touring the USA. 

Giving Back
Although circus has taken these young men out of the slums, Chibolya has not left their hearts. In 2014 they decided they wanted to give something back to their community. They dreamed of a place where children could be children; young people could develop their talents and where a child can safely run, jump and fly.

That place is Circus Zambia: a social circus school. Our holistic approach ensures that we train the bodies, minds and souls of the youth. Today Circus Zambia reaches over 5000 children but only has the capacity to work with 60 on a regular, weekly basis.
Our Goals
With your help we can reach more at risk children who need our support. We are building a colourful circus school, contrasting with the sober daily life in Chibolya. Our school will have a circus training area, computer lab, tutoring facilities and library. It will be safe haven in an environment that doesn’t provide much safety.

-         Buy more training equipment: Chinese pole, teeterboard, aerial structure and unicycles. 
-          Provide safety mats for the children
