ChumigChangchub Restoration Project

I am rebuilding the monastery at Chumig Changchub, which was destroyed in the great earthquake of April 2015. This will bring income to the local population, who were very poor even before the earthquake, as well as help preserve the spiritual heritage of the site.
Chumig Changchub is an extremely important pilgrimage site for Vajrayana Buddhists. Located near Daman, Makwanpur District in Central Nepal, it sits high up in the Mahabarat range, at over 2300 meters.
The second Buddha, Padmasambhava, also known as Guru Rinpoche, is said to have meditated here when he was travelling from India to Tibet in order to propagate Buddhism there. This episode in his story is recalled in many prayers, but particularly in the famous Barche Lamsel (clearing obstacles from the path). The spring it mentions, is still there, flowing with blessings for those who visit.
Having spent some time at the site in retreat, I can testify that it is a very special place, where even in this Dharma-ending dark age, blessings in the form of renunciation, love, compassion, impartiality and the wish to benefit others rain down without effort.
It is my personal belief that even though we are living at the end of the teachings of Sakyamuni, preserving this site will be of immense benefit for sentient beings and the Buddhadharma. If you are able of of help, please do so by donating and sharing the link, encouraging others to help.
