Allyn and Austin Carnahan just had a beautiful baby boy - Christian Rory Alan.
A couple months into Allyn’s pregnancy, the doctors told her that Christian had some fluid on his brain, which began a six-month process of weekly specialist visits up until his birth date. Many of these visits included multiple tests such as a fetal MRI, fetal echocardiogram, and other specialized tests. During Allyn’s pregnancy, she found out that Christian also had a heart defect that would require intensive care after he was born. Allyn and Austin were prepared as much as they could for a baby who would need a series of surgeries and weeks to months in the NICU.
Allyn had a Caesarian Section on 11/6/2018. Christian was born at 7:51 am weighing 6lbs 12oz and was 20 inches long! He is so adorably cute and perfect. After a few moments of mother and son time, Christian went through a series of advanced tests and a full body MRI. He has spent his first week of life in the NICU at the hospital. Allyn and Austin were finally able to hold him four days after he was born. He continues to be in the NICU with a feeding tube and breathing tube. Allyn and Austin commute from their home to the hospital to see him daily.
The doctors have changed their mind and decided that the heart surgery is not in Christian’s best interest. The breathing tube is doing a lot of the work for him and he has not been able to come off the breathing tube without major issues. The doctors believe that his breathing issues are a neurological problem. Christian will live in the NICU for most of his life here on Earth. The doctors don’t believe Christian will make it past infancy.
Christian is the most precious little boy. He has countless names of things that he is living with right now and we are taking every precious moment we have with him as a major blessing for we don't know what tomorrow brings. We believe in the power of prayer and we believe in Jesus Christ. Please consider donating to help with the medical expenses so far and Christian’s stay in the NICU as well as pray with us that we will have more time with this little one than the doctors anticipate. We don't know how long we will have with him but we are thankful for Christian and his impact on our life. We know Christian will go home to see his Heavenly Father one day and our reunion in Heaven is going to be amazing! Thank you for you love and support during this time.
