5 Marathons for Chitwan Schools

Rainbow of Magnolia Foundations of Life is raising money for a school in the chepang community of the
Chitwan region of Nepal.

The Founder of Rainbow of Magnolia Fountains of Life will be running the final of 5 marathons on 5 continents in September.

4 members of Rainbow of Magnolia Fountains of Life will be running Kathmandu Marathon on September 24th, 2016.

Along with the Rainbow members participating in the marathon and half-marathon in Kathmandu, 20 children from the Panauti Nepal school supported by the organization, will be running in the adjacent 5k run. The cross continent marathons aim to raise awareness of and funds to address the dire needs of the region.

After running, a group of 7 will travel to village of Chitwan. All funds will be use to support a community school in Chitwan providing stationary and educational materials and lunch program for students and family in chepang village  which is affected by the quake.

Also this year we will be providing support to the local woman organization to strengthen their micro credit groups. They have established this organization in their own and help one another when they need money for any purpose such as starting a small business, buying goats, buying chickens, wedding ceremonies etc. But the money will be paid back to the micro credit group with nominal interest.

This year our goal is to help five families to start a social business. This region is very famous for honey. We will help them to establish a honey house that way they can export honey and make their livings. We will provide them with proper training to run the honey farm, provide them with modern business honey collection center and help them export it to the city. This program will support these family a lot in making their livings.

Chitwan Nepal:
 
The Chitwan Valley is located in the Centeral Region of Nepal and suffered a widely reported and devestating earthquake in April of 2015. The earthquake affected Chepang communities which are already a vulnerable and economically deprived community in the region. Our goal is to serve most disadvantaged and single women and families in need.

Chepang people lives very primitive and traditional lifestyle. It should never be compared with the plain region of chitwan which is economically far better than this hilly region.


They offer the children of the region a humble school, in hopes of improving their lives.

Ongoing Support:

Rainbow of Magnolia Fountains of Life continues to offer assitance to the families of the chepang community in the Chitwan district. The support includes supporting households which are in dire need of help with special health conditions, educational opportunities to youth, providing food and emergency items to the population, and offering toys and school supplies to the children of the area. We also provide them with warm school sweaters, jackets, trousers, shoes etc. And for each household we will provide them with blankets and towels.
