Please join Project Wellness’ RxRunners and Black Pharmacy Society (BPS) in a run-for-money fundraiser challenge for #BlackLivesMatter! The fundraiser will begin on Monday, July 20th, and end on Sunday, August 17th. 

As future leaders and healthcare professionals, we will be well-positioned to speak up for Black lives and stand up for systemic racism in healthcare. However, we don’t have to wait until we graduate to help remedy current health disparities and help ensure wellness for our patients of color. We can start today!

UMMA Black Visions of Wellness provides mental and physical health services designed to encourage healthy growth and development in underserved African/African American communities. Their goal is to utilize an African-centered philosophy of treatment and education, to promote wellness and rally resources in the interest of health initiatives, cultural recognition, educational reinforcement, family building, and community revitalization.

Let’s help provide an opportunity to break down barriers to provide inclusive, culturally competent health care services to everyone by supporting UMMA all while staying active during this pandemic! Let’s run and make a difference!

Here are four ways you can contribute to this challenge:

1. Participate in the mile matching challenge! Join our Strava Club to help us match 1 mile run/walk/bike/etc for every $1 donated! Every week starting July 20th, we will tally all the miles logged on Strava and submit a donation equivalent to everyone’s miles to the GoFundMe Campaign! Don't forget to log your activities under RUN in Strava!

2. Donations! We will be accepting donations to support the Black Lives Matter movement, which will be added to our goal in miles that we, as a team, will pledge to run! You can donate directly to our GoFundMe page or Venmo your donations to @RxRunners (deadline Thursday, August 13th).

3. Spread awareness on social media! Feel free to tag @USCProjectWellness and use the hashtag #RxRun4BLM on Instagram to be featured in the Project Wellness Instagram Story! You can also use our challenge flyer or our Instagram story promotion board!

4. Invite your peers to participate! Invite your colleagues to join you on this challenge by donating, participating in the challenge, or spreading awareness!
