Plastic Oceans International

2020 was a rough year so a group of friends decided to use their hobby and abundance of spare time to try to help out. They wanted to challenge themselves physically to raise money for awesome causes. In doing so, the CoronaMan Triathlon was born. 


This multi-day event happens in Vermont in August 2020 and included a 4 mile swim across Lake Champlain, a 130 mile bike ride with 10,000+ feet of elevation gain, and concluded with a 20 mile trail run over Mount Mansfield. 


Through this, the CoronaMan Triathlon raised over $2,000 which was donated between three charities: Protect Our Winters, CDC Emergency Relief Fund, and Sierra Club Inspire Connections Outdoors. 


This year, the CoronaMan is happening again. On August 7th and 8th in Acadia National Park, athletes will set out to complete a 3 mile open water swim, a 100 mile bike ride with more than 6,000 feet of elevation gain and a 20 mile trail run over nearly every peak in the park. 


This year all funds raised with be donated to Plastic Oceans, a non-profit who’s mission is to end plastic pollution in the oceans through activism and education.

As part of Hyperion Insurance Group we are proud to be part of the new charity initiative Million for a Million (M4M)! Our goal is simple – we want to raise US$1 million by completing one million kilometres (or equivalent) in our 2019 financial year.   

2019 is Hyperion’s 25th anniversary so this is an excellent way to celebrate our achievements by working stronger together.

Running from 1 October 2018 through to 30 September 2019, the money raised from M4M will go to four special causes: Black Dog Institute, Cancer Research UK, InteRed and Plastic Oceans.

Each business will host a handful of major events during the year that everyone can get involved in. DUAL is kicking things off with a cycle from London to Barcelona

We will be cycling approximately 1000 miles across 10 days!

I’m part of a team of 22 from across the DUAL and Hyperion Group who will be heading south from our new offices at One Creechurch Place, London to Portsmouth. We'll be taking a ferry across the English Channel to France, to then head down the beautiful west coast of France, cutting right to tackle two days in the Pyrenees before dropping down to Barcelona.
