The COVID-19 pandemic has turned many of our lives upside-down these past few months. Many job losses and furloughs have exacerbated any instabilities in people's lives already such as food or housing instability. 

The Bronx has been hit especially hard by COVID-19 and is one of the most impacted communities in the nation. Part Of The Solution (POTS) is a local non-profit located on Webster Ave. right next to Fordham University. POTS strives to be a loving community in the Bronx that nourishes the basic needs and hunger of all who enter their doors. POTS not only helps provide food to the food insecure but also provides many other services such as employment coaching, mentoring, and a secure mailing address. Their overarching goal is to help people move towards self-sufficiency through their services.

To support the POTS and the Bronx community during this desperate time, the Fordham University Swimming and Diving Team is coming together to run a virtual 5K on July 11. Despite being scattered throughout the country, we are all coming together to support the community that Fordham calls home--and we need your help!

So we can better help the residents of the city we call home at Fordham, please consider donating to aid POTS’ COVID-19 Emergency Response during this time of need if you are willing and able. Whether it be twenty dollars or two, any amount will go a long way towards helping others and reaching our goal of $5,000. If you are not able to donate at this time but still want to help, please consider sharing the link to the fundraiser with friends, family, or on social media. Anything you can do helps! Thank you!!

Our names are Emily and Rosalie Pisano and our family business that has been in the Bronx for over 70 years was looted and completely destroyed on Monday night. Although it’ll be a big set back for the business, most of the expenses that are needed to rebuild will be covered by insurance.

With that said, we’ve received requests regarding a GoFundMe and would like to use this platform to setup a donation in Honor of Paradise Pawnbrokers.

None of the money donated will go to the store directly and instead everything will be donated to POTS an organization in the Bronx that is doing everything they can to help out our Bronx neighborhood and neighbors that have been affected by the current events. We stand with the protest #blacklivesmatter

We’re Flume, a music ensemble at the Riverdale Country School. With New York currently the coronavirus capital of the US, the Bronx, where our school is located, has been hit the hardest by the pandemic. As Flume’s primary objective is accessibility, we hope more medical supplies will soon be available to meet the demand and that our music can offer a sense of comfort and hope to those who need it most. 


In efforts to help our community, we’ve partnered with Part of the Solution (POTS), a non-profit organization also based in the Bronx, to create the #BacktheBronx Project. Helping low-income families and individuals since 1982, POTS has grown to become a leading provider of emergency food, legal representation and social services in the Bronx. 


What can your donation do? Any amount helps, but here are some general breakdowns and examples of what each amount can do: 

·      $25 helps to feed around 6 people for a month. 
·      $100 helps to provide a shower and haircut for 10 people. 
·      $250 provides one family Food Pantry for a year. 
·      $500 helps to provide legal services to a family facing eviction.
·      $1,000 helps to provide prepared, nutritious meals for 400 guests.   

Any amount will be a contribution toward helping the Bronx heal. We appreciate your help.
