Dear all,

I am proud to be a contestant for Miss Viet Nam Florida this year! But, I am more excited that our chosen philanthropy is for Operation Smile. Operation Smile is a foundation that performs reconstructive surgeries for children with cleft disease in underprivileged countries. Children with cleft disease not only have an impaired smile, but also have difficulty eating, breathing, and speaking even.

In many underserved areas of the world, people can't get the surgical care they need when they need it. Operation Smile works hand in glove to elevate local surgical standards and entire health systems to reach more people earlier in their lives, bringing healing to patients, families and communities as it is long-term mission. That's how they're creating a better world, and they can't do this without your help! My goal is to reach $1200, as every $240 is a surgery for 1 child, therefore any and all donations are appreciated! This amount would grant a surgery for FIVE children! Operation Smile knows that cleft surgery and related treatments offer optimism and hope at any age.

Please join me in raising money and awareness for Operation Smile, a 501(c)3 non-profit that gives children and adults born with cleft lip and cleft palate the life altering gift of a new smile and a chance to lead a normal life.

 

What do you do when you make a great shot in a sport like basketball, soccer, golf, tennis or lacrosse? You smile! What do you do when you see a great shot? You smile! There are people around the world who are born with cleft conditions who are unable or are too self-conscious to express the same reaction.

 

That’s why I’ve started this challenge, similar to the ice bucket challenge, where I’m encouraging others to post their best shot to my Facebook and Instagram accounts (your best shot can be in any sport… basketball, soccer, hockey, etc.) and then nominate a friend to post their best shot.

Can you imagine what it would be like to feel so self-conscious that even when you are happy and feeling grateful that you would not want to smile? We express joy when we smile and convey that feeling to others and after this year with the pandemic, we could all use a little more joy in our lives. 

 

I created this challenge to increase awareness for Operation Smile and to encourage supporters to donate. Donations aren’t required to participate, but any donation you make will go directly to Operation Smile and change lives. 




Your donations will help make surgery possible for people born with cleft conditions. Surgery can cost as little as $240 and with your help and support #SmileShot has the potential to make a life-altering difference for many people!
