Hello everyone! I am Brody Mansfield, a student involved in Kempsville High School's Operation Smile chapter. Operation Smile is an organization that we are truly passionate about at Kempsville, and with your donation, we are able to do so many more fun activities that recognize the non-profit. This includes but is not limited to organizing donation drives, marching in local parades to spread the news, etc. All donations are appreciated and we thank you! ❤️

My name is Noah Howe, and my school does a senior project called Basha Gives Back where you can choose something to give back to the community. I have chosen to support people with cleft lip and palate because I personally understand the challenges they face—I too dealt with the same condition. Living with a cleft lip or palate can be difficult, not just medically but also emotionally, and many children around the world lack access to the life-changing surgeries and care they need. That’s why I’m raising funds through this GoFundMe—to give these individuals a chance at a healthier, more confident future. $240 can help pay for one kids surgery. Every donation, no matter the amount, helps provide essential surgeries, speech therapy, and medical support to those in need. Together, we can make a real difference in the lives of children and families affected by cleft conditions. On April 4th, 2025, Rutgers School of Dental Medicine will face off against New Jersey Medical School at RWJ Barnabas Arena. This event is held annually where friends, students, family, and alumni come together and support a great cause.

Since our first annual game, we have raised nearly $90,000 for various great causes including Hurricane Sandy victims, Pediatric Cancer family support/research, and the CINJ Patient Relief Fund.

This year we are partnering up with Operation Smile Foundation. Operation Smile is a nonprofit charity corporation that specializes in cleft surgery and care. They provide medical training, education, and mentorship to surgical teams around the world, along with expertise, research, and care through our staff and volunteers, working alongside local governments, nonprofits, and health systems.

Their team approach provides the highest quality care for patients living in countries with under-resourced health systems where safe surgery and cleft care may be unavailable or inaccessible to them. Their community-focused patient recruitment efforts locate children in need of essential cleft surgery and provide them with accessible follow-up treatments.

LUC Operation Smile is a student organization at Loyola University Chicago that aims to spread awareness and raise money for Operation Smile; Operation Smile is a non-profit organization that aims to provide free, life-changing reconstructive surgeries to children across the globe with cleft conditions. Each surgery costs only $240.

In 2022, Operation Smile provided 20,776 children with surgery and dental care through 151 surgical programs in 28 countries.

Hello Everyone! My name is Anisa Shah, and I am a senior at Watchung Hills Regional High School in NJ.

A month ago, I attended Operation Smile’s surgical program training in Virginia Beach, VA as a student volunteer. I am so happy to have been placed on a mission for Op Smile’s surgical program in David, Panama from May 8-18!!!

I am so so beyond excited to travel with Operation Smile and assist in this program. During my mission in Panama, I will be able to play with patients pre-and-post operation and educate patients and families on dental care, burn care prevention, and more.

Any contributions towards the above goal will go directly to the cost of the roundtrip airfare and will provide dental products and children's toys to our patients.

As you may know, Operation Smile is a global nonprofit organization specializing in expert cleft surgery and care. Since 1982, this Virginia Beach-based organization has been committed to providing patients with life-saving cleft surgeries and comprehensive care, all at no cost to the patient or their family.

As a student volunteer for the organization, I will be able to have an impact on the lives of Operation Smile’s patients around the world by raising awareness and funds that help to make surgery possible. A surgery can cost as little as $240 and take only 45 minutes - but transforms a person’s life forever.

For my 52nd birthday this year I am asking friends and family to donate to Operation Smile. In 2024, I was fortunate enough to travel with Operation Smile to India and Madagascar to be part of the team that made a total of 180 surgeries a reality.

For the past 43 years Operation Smile has been providing cleft lip and palate surgeries to patients all across the world. To date, over 450,000 life-changing surgeries have been performed all thanks to your generosity.

My name is Isabella, as you can probably tell from my accent I’m French and I've called Virginia home for the past three years.

My husband, General Philippe Lavigne, leads NATO's Allied Command Transformation here in Norfolk.

I’m also the proud President of SOPC, NATO’s spouses’ organization that raises money for various charities.

But beyond those titles, I'm a mom of two wonderful boys Thomas and Antoine and a passionate advocate for children's health.

As a Ph.D. pharmacist, I know firsthand the importance of health. That's why I'm swimming across the Lafayette River on August 29th for Operation Smile!

Operation Smile provides life-changing surgeries for children born with cleft palates. These surgeries not only improve their appearance but also allow them to eat properly, socialize with ease, and attend school with confidence.

For just $240, they can transform a child's life! I would say save a child’s life.

My goal is to raise AT LEAST 6000$ to help 25 children or more to have a beautiful smile to embrace life.

This 1.2-mile swim might have some fishy company – turtles, hopefully dolphins, but definitely jellyfish!

This summer I am going with Operation Smile on a medical mission to Popayan, Colombia to assist and support in the life-changing cleft palate surgeries they will be conducting. After Columbia, I will also be going to Peru to attend the Operation Smile International Student Leadership Conference as a Team Leader representing England. I am honoured to be a part of this amazing organisation. The money I am raising will go directly towards operations that I will be a part of this summer in Colombia.

So, what are a cleft lip and cleft palate?

A cleft palate occurs when the tissue that makes up the roof of the mouth does not completely join together during pregnancy, resulting in an opening in the palate of the mouth.  A cleft lip occurs when the tissue that makes up the lip does not completely fuse together before birth. These complications typically occur during the fourth -  seventh weeks of pregnancy. These orofacial clefts typically occur due to the mother's genetic mutations and family history, or environmental factors, such as: smoking, consumption of alcohol, insufficient nutrients which puts children at risk for malnutrition, infections during pregnancy, diabetes,  or certain medications that the mother consumes. Children with cleft lip or cleft palate struggle with dental problems, feeding, difficulty breathing, speech impediment,  ear infections and hearing impairment.
