Open Door Animal Sanctuary

It is with great excitement that we announce our next two half-marathon races in our 50-state half-marathon series.  On 10/18 we will be running in Omaha, Nebraska & on 11/7 we will be running in Indianapolis, Indiana.  For both races we will be raising money for Open Door Animal Sanctuary .  

The exciting part is that we have a matching donor for Open Door!  Debra Phelon, of Jackson Wyoming, will be matching all donations up to $5,000!  We met Debra over the summer and when we shared our 50-state half-marathon series journey with her, she generously offered to match donations for a charity to benefit animals.  We couldn't be more grateful for her generous offer.  Thank you so much, Debra!

We love Open Door because they are the largest no-kill animal shelter in our area.  We have Volunteered multiple times at Open Door.  In fact, during our first volunteer visit, we fell in love with a black pug who we just had to adopt.  Open Door is currently in phase 1 of a capital improvement campaign to renovate the dog kennels and the "pampurred palace" cat kennel.  Your donation will help make the new kennels possible and make for a much better environment for the dogs and cats by reducing noise levels, creating a less "reactive" environment, creating a more appealing experience for adopters as well as improving enclosures for safety and ease of care.
