In memoriam of our sister Rachel, we would like to donate funds directly to the Muscular Dystrophy Association in her honor. Rachel and her brothers attended MDA camp specifically for children with muscular dystrophy, with Rachel as a camper and her brothers as camp counselors. MDA has been close to the Klentz's for a very long time and we would love to return our gratitude for the help they showed our Rachel.

Myo-Mission: Raising Awareness and Funds for MD
Hi there! We are Myo-Mission: a student-led initiative to raise awareness for Muscular Dystrophy and to raise money to help generate funds for students with Muscular Dystrophy to lessen the financial burden of attending specialized Summer camps. Muscular Dystrophy is a group of genetic disorders characterized by progressive muscular weakness and degeneration. Common effects in patients include: ambulatory loss, muscle weakness, neurological effects, and more.

Our motto is Building Awareness, Breaking Barriers, and Boosting Progress.

Building Awareness: We are going house-to-house to get cash donations and to talk about Muscular Dystrophy and our cause. We hope that by interacting with people in our community face-to-face, we can better educate other about this genetic disorder.

Breaking Barriers: By educating people in our community, we are dispelling the negative connotation around Muscular Dystrophy and other genetic disorders.

Boosting Progress: Education and acceptance are the first steps to making a more inclusive environment and providing a space for people with all disorders to feel comfortable. Additionally, this has inspired us to actively conduct biological research in Muscular Dystrophy including specialized variants such as Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.

It is with excitement to be able to train for and run a half marathon, especially in honor of those who can’t. The freedom to run, play, walk, talk, eat and even breathe is a blessing. Each day these freedoms are taken away from children and adults with muscular dystrophy. Please support me as I race in the Red Baron Half Marathon on November 6th while fundraising for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. MDA is an organization that transforms the lives of people with muscular dystrophy, ALS and other related neuromuscular diseases. It helps fund research for treatments and provides families with high-quality health care and support. This organization holds a special place in my heart, as two of my siblings have been diagnosed with Congenital Myasthenia Syndrome. My Dad was diagnosed with a form of Muscular Dystrophy 10 years ago, so I know first hand the effects this disease can have on an individual and a family.
