Hello Messiah Lutheran Child Care Center Families (Alumni or Current), and Friends,
The COVID-19 pandemic has turned our world upside down these past few months, creating uncertainty and stress for all of us. With stay at home orders and nationwide shutdowns, everything came to a standstill – only to speed back up again with quite literally every aspect of our lives going virtual, including work, school, family gatherings. Yet childcare, especially for young families, is not something that can remain virtual, so Messiah Lutheran Child Care Center (MLCCC) was able to open their doors to families and children needing summer camp on June 15, 2020 after nearly three months of being shuttered. But the future of Messiah Lutheran Child Care Center like other small businesses, faces challenges.
Enrollment for Summer 2020 Campers at MLCCC was substantially reduced even though more teachers were needed for additional care at check in, class size limitations, and merging room usage, as well as extra cleaning throughout and after the school day. These additional resources and materials (e.g. PPE and extra sanitizing/cleaning) to ensure MLCCC was safe and open for families this 2020 summer, are additional unaccounted costs for MLCCC.
The 2020-2021 MLCCC school year will face similar measures with extra teachers and or helpers for extra care at check in and cleaning throughout and during the day.
MLCCC is a loving community of teachers and staff that has been a gem in the community for decades. MLCCC has always been self supported with tuition and school fundraisers. This year’s fun fair, our major fundraiser was cancelled due to the virus and the school closed for 12 weeks between March 15 to June 15. Messiah appreciates the donations made to the school at that time, but will be facing similar financial shortages due to state, federal, and DCFS guidelines/protocols. Gift cards for local restaurants from our cancelled fun fair silent auction will be raffled off for each $25 donation received by September 30, 2020!
Current and future young families at MLCCC need the community to help ensure that MLCCC, an independent small business in Park Ridge, Illinois, remains open and vibrant during and after the COVID crisis.
Please consider a one-time donation or potential on-going donation during the COVID crisis. There is a need for MLCCC small businesses to staff the teachers and staff during this crisis, and provide a safe place for young families needing childcare. The initial goal for MLCCC to remain open through the end of 2020 is $50,000, which will be used to help pay for additional costs due to the COVID crisis
As you know the COVID crisis does not have an anticipated end date, so the need for community support beyond the end of the 2020 calendar year will likely exist. If you can commit to a monthly donation during this COVID crisis, it would be greatly appreciated!
There are two ways to donate:
1. The MLCCC GoFundme page here OR
2.Send Checks directly to MLCCC at 1605 Vernon Ave, Park Ridge, IL 60068 with the note “COVID Donation” so that it can be applied for the COVID crisis needs.
Thank you for supporting Messiah Lutheran Child Care Center, for current and young families needing this loving community! Please let us know if you have any additional questions. We appreciate your support and generosity!
Kind Regards,
Friends of MLCCC
PS: Each donation of $25 received by September 30, 2020 will be entered into the restaurant gift card raffle.
