Imagine being a child, but never knowing the simple joy of going door-to-door on Halloween night, dressed in your favorite costume, collecting candy and sharing in the excitement with friends. For the children at Lydia Home in Evanston, Illinois, this cherished childhood experience is out of reach. These children, ranging in age from elementary school to 18, were removed from their biological families due to severe abuse. Due to their traumatic pasts and the need for a secure environment, they live, learn, and play within the same complex, without the freedom to roam the neighborhoods like other kids.

But we can change that.

This Halloween, we’re partnering with Sam’s Club to bring the fun of trick-or-treating right to them. Our goal is to fill each child’s pillowcase with enough candy to replicate what they might collect on a traditional Halloween night.
