Erin's Estate Sale in Bocas
Enter, COVID19... an absolute nightmare for these isolated indigenous families living in the jungle. The area is supported 95% by tourism, which may not resume for several years. There is no other industry on the islands and many people paddle dug-out canoes up to 2 hours to and from their jobs at the restaurants and dive shops in Bocas Town, which has now come to a complete halt, and they are predicting that 80% of the businesses in town may close.
Give & Surf, along with The Darklands Foundation are bringing bags of food and necessities to hundreds of local families sheltering in place, but once restrictions are lifted, the government assistance will stop and their jobs are gone.
In addition to your donations, I will be selling all of my personal belongings that were shipped to Bocas, and donating 100% of the proceeds from the sale of my property to the relief effort down there.
I would like my friends who love me and are do-gooders, to help me make lemonade out of a very lemony situation and feed these folks.
Can you see the kind of effort it takes here? We can just go to the store.
