Friends of Brookline Lacrosse

Dear Brookline High School Lacrosse Community,

We are reaching out to members of our community to help us raise funds for Friends of Brookline Lacrosse, the non-profit organization dedicated to the BHS Boys’ Lacrosse program. 100% of the funds go directly to supporting our young men/coaches and donations are tax-deductible. Your support helps us build and sustain our mission: to train scholar-athletes in the development of character, dedication to hard work, and leadership skills through competitive lacrosse.

We are very aware that each family has a different financial situation and are very grateful for your support - whatever the contribution. Friends of Brookline Lacrosse is a 501(c) (3), making donations tax-deductible and potentially eligible for corporate matching. Our goal for 2023 is to raise $15,000.

How are these funds spent?

This annual fundraiser supports numerous season operating expenses and ongoing projects that enhance the program in the absence of sufficient support from Brookline High School. Specifically, Friends of Brookline Lacrosse intends to use the funds raised this year to purchase new uniforms (for varsity, and depending on donations, for JV as well), video recording of games for in-season film sessions, software to analyze and share video, pay for training sessions with outside specialty coaches, purchase other training equipment to make the program meaningful for all participants, and maintain a reserve fund for unexpected expenses. In prior years, we have also used funds to compensate coaches when BHS has eliminated funding for specific coaching positions.

Thanks to the generosity of supporters, last year we were able to raise funds to pay for new safety equipment, including upgraded team helmets and safety-compliant goalie gear, practice pinnies, and practice apparel among other expenses. We therefore ask that you help us continue to grow the program and provide meaningful opportunities for players in the years to come.

WHO AM I, AND WHY DID I CREATE THIS PAGE:

My name is Scott Hillman and I am the treasurer of Friends of Brookline Lacrosse (FOBL). I was a co-founder of Brookline Youth Lacrosse (BYL) and administered and coached in the program for over 15 years. FOBL President Will Goldthwait was a BYL Boys President and coach for over 10 years. Both Will's & my children played lacrosse for BHS and BYL. Raising funds via FOBL to support worthy Lacrosse related endeavors in Brookline is a way for us to continue to give back to the programs/sport that have meant so much to our families/friends.
