Perkins Eastman's campaign for Atria Cares
The Camp Fire, as it was called, started just north of Sacramento, California on November 8 and immediately tore through the town of Paradise. It eventually burned 153,000 acres, destroyed 14,000 homes and was responsible for 85 deaths. It also completely destroyed the facility that Atria manages in Paradise and turned the lives of the 84 residents who lived there and the 67 employees who worked there upside down.
Their staff members were nothing short of heroic as they raced to evacuate the residents to a hotel in Sacramento. The residents stayed at that hotel for several days while the staff located apartments for them either at other Atria communities or other providers in the surrounding area. Many of their employees (and some of their family members) also ended up staying at the hotel and were there through Thanksgiving weekend. And while the Paradise residents have been acclimating to their new homes, most of their employees continue to live with friends or relatives in other towns. The majority of the Paradise employees lost everything they owned. In fact, Atria had to buy clothing for many of them when they first arrived at the hotel. They were forced to evacuate so quickly that there wasn’t time to save anything. Their colleagues have a long journey ahead of them.
During the first week of December, Atria Cares provided significant assistance - totaling almost $450,000 - to Atria Paradise employees. Their need is great. Many lost their homes, cars, clothing and all their other personal belongings. At this point, Atria Cares has very little funds remaining to assist other Atria employees going forward. In fact, most of the funds paid last week had been recently donated by Atria “friends and family” including Atria, its investors and employees.
So how can you help? Our ask of you is to please join Perkins Eastman and send a donation to Atria Cares. Any amount is welcome and appreciated.
