Chantele Martens Memorial

On June.06th, 2016 Chantele and Brennan Martens checked into the Foothills hospital to deliver their first child. With many complications she was rushed into the operating room to have an emergency c-section. A day that should have been a highlight in their lives quickly turned for the worst when the surgeon delivering Isaiah discovered that she had cancer. She was kept in the hospital for many weeks following Isaiah's birth and endoured countless procedures which revealed that her cancer had already spread to distant organs and was stage 4.  While most new mothers are at home learning to care for and bond with their new baby, Chantele was required to stay in the hospital even though her new baby had been discharged. Brennan was by her side through her entire journey and never once let her sleep in the hospital alone.

Once Chantele was well enough to go home she immediately started her chemo therapy. This was extremely hard on her already weakened system but Chantele persevered even though she hated that she was unable to be with Isaiah for at least 48 hours after each treatment. In addition to all of this she was in a lot pain which resulted in her having to take a tremendous amount of medications.

On April.04th Chantele and Brennan unfortunately headed back to the hospital as her condition was worsening. Her oxygen levels were extremely low, her liver, kidney, heart and lungs were under an immence amount of stress. By Thursday morning the doctors met with Chantele to let her know that she was suffering from severe sepsis. Later on that evening they had confirmed her worst fears, that the cancer had spread to her lungs and that she had only hours to live. Brennan called family and friends to come to the hospital to witness her baptism, marriage, and say their last goodbyes. Still as the doctors told her that she was going to die, she faught them in true Chantele fashion. Chantele passed away the morning of April.08th,2017.

All funds raised wil be used to pay for funeral expenses, hospital costs and any additional money will put into a trust fund for Isaiah's future.
