Chalkboard Kenya July 2018

This inspiring project which began in 2012, will benefit the kids of the Kenya Mama Orphans Children’s Home which is located in Busia town in the Western Province of Kenya. It borders Uganda to the West and Lake Victoria to the South. Most of the children at the orphanage are at the age of attending primary school.
Chalkboard Kenya intends to give these orphans the chance of a good education by bringing in some much needed teachers from the UK and other parts of the world. Here we will teach a programme Chalkboard Kenya has set up along with the help of the orphanage to create the quality education these children deserve. I will be travelling to Kenya in July 2018 with the other volunteers to teach Music to Primary School kids.  Music is the life and soul of these children. Although they have not had any formal music or dance lessons in school, all the orphans get involved in singing and dancing each week at church and have a good natural sense of rhythm. As part of the Chalkboard Team I will also need to help out with the day-to-day runnings of the orphanage, such as help serving food, play games with the children after school and bed time.
