Celebrate Community Parade

Tax deductible
Pivot Arts' Celebrate Community Parade brings people of all backgrounds together to celebrate diversity and inclusion in Chicago's Edgewater neighborhood.

A DIVERSE CHICAGO NEIGHBORHOOD
Many immigrants and refugees live in Edgewater. Pivot Arts started this free parade event in order to bring our diverse neighborhood together. The 3rd annual Celebrate Community Parade takes place on Saturday, June 3, 2017 as part of the Pivot Arts Festival, a ten day celebration of innovative theater, music and dance events. The parade includes large-scale puppets, music and decorative objects made by youth.

ARTISTS TEACH PUPPETRY AT SWIFT SCHOOL
The event starts at Swift Elementary School, a public school where over 50 languages are spoken. Pivot Arts provides a free arts residency for Swift students, many of whom are immigrants and refugees. Artists teach a puppetry-making workshop during the spring quarter to 6th and 7th grade students. The students' puppets and art work will be showcased as part of the June 3 parade.

ABOUT THE PARADE

This is the 3rd Celebrate Community Parade. Last year, over 25 arts organizations, businesses, social service organizations, and schools joined together to march in support of our diverse community. Young people and their families then enjoyed free performances and workshops by groups such as CircEsteem, Merry Music Makers, L'il Buds Theatre and more.

HOW YOU CAN SUPPORT THE PARADE
We are proud to provide artists-in-residence at Swift each year so that Chicago public school students have opportunities they would not otherwise have access to, such as a puppetry course. As a small not-for-profit, we need the community's support to make the parade possible.

Your Donation made to Pivot Arts’ Celebrate Community Parade will be used to:

-Pay teaching artists for residencies
-Pay performing artists at parade
-Rent equipment for parade
-Buy art supplies for classes we provide to Swift
-Purchase supplies for workshops at the event

We would greatly appreciate any donation, large or small, that can help us continue this community-building tradition. Thank You!
