Flint Water Campaign

Join Compassionate Care Network (CCN) as we provide urgently needed clean, safe drinking water to the residents of Flint, MI.

CCN is set to transport two truckloads - over 10,000 bottles - of clean drinking water to Flint, Michigan this week. This is the first phase of our campaign to help address this public health emergency. CCN believes strongly in the right for every American to have access to health and wellness, and access to clean, safe drinking water is a fundamental right for every individual.

For nearly two years now, the working class city of Flint, Michigan has been suffering from the toxic contamination of lead in their local water supply, a public health crisis that was left silently unaddressed since 2014. The diversion of Flint's water supply from Detroit to a local, cheaper source has caused blood lead levels to rise two to three-fold in the local population.

Lead poisoning is a serious environmental hazard, causing impairment in brain development, resulting in learning disabilities, behavioral problems, as well as anemia, and damage to kidney function, among other organs. These are effects that last long after the detection of lead is no longer apparent in the bloodstream. Babies drinking formula, for example, and pregnant mothers without access to clean drinking water can discover serious health problems years later. Already residents have reported skin lesions, hair loss, vision impairment and hypertension.

Despite outcry and petitions by the people of Flint, their voice has been largely ignored by government officials. Help us to provide urgently needed clean, safe drinking water to the residents of Flint, and to do our part to address this public health disaster in our nation.
