Care for the Children of Cambodia

Hi,
I feel very blessed to have been given the opportunity to travel to Cambodia in the winter of 2020 with faculty and students from Edgewood College. We will be assessing children and offering money to send them to get treatment in their facilities. Most of the clinical sites will be at orphanages and schools. The clinicals will also include educational sessions. The educational sessions may include hand hygiene, dental hygiene, male/female hygiene, etc. Each child that we see gets to take a hygiene pack home with them. I am responsible for making 100 of these hygiene packs. Each hygiene pack includes a wash cloth, medium or large bar of soap, toothbrush, medium or large tube of toothpaste, dental floss, and a comb. During the time away from clinic sites, we will experience the culture of Cambodia by visiting various markets, museums, and temples.
Leading up to this service trip, I will be enrolled in a course led by a nursing professor that will be along on this journey during winter break. The course will allow the students to become familiar with Cambodia’s culture and health disparities.
