Help Me Become a Mom After Cancer

My name is Nathalie Criou, and I am a long-time cancer survivor . I am asking for your help to raise money to become a mom.
I am now a little older, I live in San Francisco, became the first French Giants fan, and I am hopelessly in love with my two cats, Hershel and Pumpkin.
Fighting hard and staying strong has helped me accomplish many things in my life (such as surviving cancer, founding BeatSarcoma - a nonprofit organization to fund cancer research, sailing the single-handed TransPac , and surviving a shipwreck ).
But now, in order to achieve one of my most cherished dreams in life, to become a mother, I need your help. Cancer took my uterus, cervix, and ovaries from me, but thanks to advances in fertility treatments and cancer care I still have one chance to have a child of my own.
When I first realized that my cancer might rob me of the ability to become a mother, I was devastated. Motherhood means the world to me. Due to the foresight of my physician, I managed to freeze embryos before my treatment, over ten years ago. I have been cancer free ever since.
Now that I am healthy and with the help of a surrogate mother I hope to give my frozen embryos life.
I hesitated a lot before opening up this campaign as it felt awkward to ask others to pay for my child. However, many of my friends have pointed out to me that I would not be in this situation or be facing these hurdles if I had not had cancer. In addition to the financial setbacks of battling cancer and preserving fertility, the cost of surrogacy is very high. So, I decided to open this up and let you be the judge of the appropriateness of my request.
I can't wait to see the world's possibilities through the eyes of my own child - and give them the courage to be resilient, the confidence to hold onto dreams, and the love of life.
