Canadian Help for Kids in Haiti

The kids in Haiti  need you.

Haiti isn't just poor.

It ranks as the poorest of the Caribbean Island countries... and the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere!

According to quora.com,

- Only 50% of the population has access to safe water, so most people get water from rivers, streams, and lakes.
- Haiti is the third hungriest country in the world, with nearly two million people hungry before the earthquake.
- Only 50% of Haitian children are able to go to school, and only 30% make it to the fifth grade.
- The national poverty rate is 58.6%, and 24.7% is the extreme poverty rate
- 80% of the rural population lives in poverty.

Staggering!!!

While we can't tackle the whole country, we have friends on the ground.

The Foundation for Children in Haiti is a non-profit organization working in 2 cities of the southern department: the city of Torbeck, locality of Marotier, and the city of Saint Jean of the south, locality of Tapion.

Both villages have a total of 463 children. With the passage of Hurricane Matthew, the villages lost all agriculture... even the native vegetation was destroyed.

The funds will go to pay

- to go to school for 156 school-age children for three months,

- transportation to get to school,

- breakfasts for one month, and

- to continue construction of a centre, to house a clinic, a safe place to meet with parents and children, office space for the organization.

Good health, Good nutrition, and Good education pave the way out of poverty.

For the children and the parents of our villages, fulfilling this campaign will bring hope to a dismal future.
