Campaign for the Cure

Many of you have been out to our farm for events.  We have had many private and public events over the years, and the last couple of years we have made many modifications to the farmhouse.  I made a new kitchen table for Alicia, two Christmas’ ago, and everyone who walked by it commented on how great it looked. I burned the wood for the table top with some very special and unique patterns.  I used transformers to shoot high voltage electricity into the boards to burn them. It is a very time consuming process, but it produces some really neat patterns in the wood. I made a second table based on my desire to improve upon my initial design, and it is finally complete!

     This new table in particular though is going to go to a good cause. My cousin Cait Telaak is battling cholangiocarcinoma, which is Bile Duct Cancer.  She has been battling this aggressive form of cancer for years now. How many of you have family members battling cancer? I don’t know about you, but I often feel pretty helpless in situations where I can’t fix something. When a fence is broken, I mend it. When a piece of farm equipment breaks down, I do my best to get it working again.  I simply just do not have the tools in my tool box to fix this problem. I want to support the Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation on behalf of my cousin by providing a functional piece of art. The idea would be that people could donate money for a shot for the table.  The more people donate, the better their chances of winning are! For every $10 you donate I will add a ticket to the bucket with your name on it!  Once the campaign is complete, I will deliver the table as long as it is within a 50 mile radius of the farm. 

     For those of you who are not interested in the table but want to help, we appreciate your support!  We can all do so much to show our love and support for our family members who are suffering.  We are raising money to benefit Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation, and any donation will help make an impact. More information about Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation: Founded in 2006, the Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation (CCF) is the only non-profit in North America dedicated to finding a cure and improving the quality of life for those affected by bile duct cancer. More than 5,000 people are diagnosed with this hard-to-detect, difficult-to-treat, fatal type of cancer in the United States each year, and incidence is sharply increasing. Despite treatment, most people diagnosed with advanced bile duct cancer have less than a 10 percent chance of surviving five years.
