Cambodia Tuktuk

Donation protected

Last year Claus and Shaun worked together, with the help of so many, helping a family in the Philippines.

What started as a project to pull the Dela Cruz family out of poverty, grew to paying for a young girl’s life-saving heart surgery and enabling them to generate a higher monthly income. Its an amazing thing, seeing Janet playing with her friends now at school like a normal child her age. When we met them in Manila she was being carried around by her mother because she was just too weak to walk.

It was such an overwhelming success and a life changing project that we’re going to try and repeat our success by helping another family in another impoverished country.

Cambodia

With the help of a great organization called Hands on Helping we were introduced to a family of 7 living in a slum just outside of Phnom Penh.

The father, named Hov Sokheng, works hard in construction and his wife washes clothes and cleans homes in the city.

Unlike here, there is no safety net in Cambodia and as Mr Hov ages he finds it more and more difficult to do his backbreaking job in construction.

They barely make enough to get by let alone put their 4 daughters and 1 son through school. So far two of their daughters have already had to drop out of high school so they could get jobs to earn money to help the family.

Our goal is to provide them with a tuk-tuk, which is a taxi in Cambodia. They can then use the tuk-tuk to earn money in the city. This will raise them out of poverty and allow Hov to leave his strenuous job in construction. Helping his health and improve his income.

With the extra income all their children should be able to get back in school and provide them with the opportunity to look towards a positive future receiving an education.

Our plan is to buy a tuk-tuk in Siem Riep and drive it south towards Phnom Penh where we will meet up with the family and hand them the keys to the tuk-tuk.

Part of our objective last year was to get Janet her heart surgery and donate a Trike to the family, one goal we fell short of was to build them a new home. Right now they live in a tiny grass hut with a dirt floor and use a car battery to light their home.

Claus and I will be heading back to the Philippines to finish what we started last year before moving on to Cambodia.

To sum up our donation goals,

We are going to raise 3000$ for a new home and cover electricity bills for a one year for Janet and her family,

And then raise $7000 for Hov and his family in Cambodia which will give them a helping hand to get out of poverty and help educate the children.

Without our help these families could never crawl out of the unfortunate situation they are in.

We want to thank everyone who can share our video and donate anything for this great cause. The difference we make can change lives for so many with so little. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks, and have a great day!
