Helping Matt go to Uganda

Thank you so much for taking time to consider supporting me on my trip to Uganda. I will be in Uganda for about 3 weeks and will be going with a team of fellow pupils from Chellaston school. The school owns and maintains an orphanage in Kampala (The John Dickens Home) and is involved in a primary school and another orphanage.

I will be part of a team visit where we will work in the orphanages and school, renovating, maintaining and developing the site as required. Helping care for the children and building relationships with the local community. I also get to assist in the school and visit disadvantaged areas to distribute clothes and toiletries to families.

I will also get the opportunity to go rafting in rapids and experience the food and culture of Uganda. Other students who have gone before me have said how amazing the experience is but that it is the time spent in the orphanage and the shanty areas that are most life changing. I hope to raise money to cover the cost of the trip and to contribute to the ongoing costs of the project. Thank you for your support!

I will be hiking up Scafell Pike on Friday 31st May and this page is really asking for sponsorship. I am trying to think of something creative that will help me keep in mind the reason for doing the hike. Let me know if you have any good ideas or challenges I can take on while hiking up the mountain! I can't promise to do them all but they will all be considered. Thanks also to my Dad, Tom and Barney who are joining me on the hike.
