Rebuild BVI Wakeboarding

Donation protected

Orandae Pitt was born in the British Virgin Islands (BVI) in 1995 on Virgin Gorda. He had a childhood obsession with the water, spending his days drawing boats at school and dreaming of being a captain.  He began work at Biras Creek Resort as an assistant,  despite not even knowing how to swim.

One day, he sailed by Necker Island, a small private island owned by Sir Richard Branson, out of curiosity. He walked in to the watersports office and asked for an application. A week later, he was offered a trial as a watersports assistant. At the end of his trial, he was told he could stay.

It was on Necker Island that he learned how to swim and, eventually, wakeboard. He spent his lunch breaks learning how to captain a boat.

Before and After

While working on Necker, Orandae bought a Nautique wakeboard boat for $1 and hauled it out of the dump. The boat would become his side project, and he taught himself how to repair fiberglass using YouTube. It took nearly a year to finish, but in the end he restored the boat to full working order. Unfortunately, he was only able to obtain liability insurance on this rebuilt boat.

He quit his job at Necker Island and started his own company, Sealingo, taking tourists wakeboarding, wakesurfing, and more. He inspired interest in watersports, and many of his customers went on to buy wakeboard boats and enjoy the sport. Sealingo was a huge success.

Joy Cuezze and her family live in Kansas City and spend their time at Lake of the Ozarks wakeboarding and wakesurfing. While in the BVI, they had a great experience surfing in North Sound with Orandae and Sealingo and were impressed by his entrepreneurial spirit.

On September 6th, 2017,  Hurricane Irma hit the British Virgin Islands as a Category 5 Hurricane. It wreaked havoc across the Caribbean and demolished most of the BVI.

Orandae's boat and supplies sustained heavy damage, and the Nautique was badly damaged. Joy and her friends and family are helping to support Sealingo and get Orandae back on his feet.

Our mission is to raise funds to purchase a new wakeboard boat or repair the Nautique.  100% of donations would be used to pay for the boat, shipping, and related business development costs.

The BVI economy is dependent on tourism, and small businesses like Sealingo are crucial to the future of the islands. Your donation helps build a stable BVI for years to come.
