Fire recovery

In the early morning of Wednesday Dec 9th, I was displaced from my home by a fire in my apartment building. It could have been a lot worse, but thankfully nobody was hurt, and there wasn't much damage to anyone's personal stuff, other than everything in the underground parking garage. All of the cars were destroyed, and there was extensive damage to the building's infrastructure, making it uninhabitable for the next 6-9 months, possibly longer. While most of the residents have content insurance that provides accommodations for them during this time, I do not. As a recent home buyer, I put it off while figuring out other things until it slipped my mind completely. Fortunately. I have been helped out with a place to stay by family and friends, but I can only impose temporarily on them, and would really like to be able to contribute. But my finances are still going to the payments and bills for the apartment I cannot live in, and my current situation is causing me to spend a lot of extra money on unexpected expenses. It would be pretty great if I could buy Christmas presents, at least for the folks who have helped me out. I don't really like asking for handouts, especially since it's not like all of my worldly possessions were destroyed, but my life has been completely turned upside down by this.
