one day I was asked what influences you to get up everyday and do what you do?
I replied: My mother. Growing up my mother didn't have much at all. She raised us in HUD housing. She was a single mother of 4 and she started having us at 15 years old. It was hard but with the support of grandparents we turned out ok. But more importantly she use to tell us that she might not have enough money but she had enough love for all of us.
I'm proud of my mother's strength and her weaknesses. I noticed she didn't have resources or empowerment to help her improve life outcomes after teenage pregnancy. She always preached to me as a teen to not follow her steps. She wanted the best for me but in return I wanted the best for her. I became more concerned about her and other women in her shoes. I dreamed of opening a nonprofit center that would help teen moms and single moms get the resources to become a successful mom despite of circumstances. So in honor of my mother Carla Young and many others like her I'm asking that you help me send 2 deserving daughters to their senior prom in Dorchester county!
The senior will revieve a brand new dress of their choice, hair, makeup, shoes and accessories.
Did You know the teen pregnancy rates in Dorchester County are equivalent to those in Baltimore City and the population there is much lower?
