Buena HS Mammoth Running Camp

Hello.  My name is Aaron Torres and I am the boys head cross country coach at Buena High School.  I am now entering my third season as the boys head coach and I am so thankful to be given this opportunity.  I am a Buena alum, and I ran cross country and track and field.  It was through these sports that I learned true life lessons, of hard work, perseverence, team work and committment.  And now, I have the great opportunity to pass these lessons on to the youth today.  It has been so rewarding working with the student-athletes of Buena High.  They have proven themselves time and time again, and now we are about to embark on a new season, with new athletes and new lessons to be taught and learned.  One of the best ways to teach these lessons, is through a week long cross country camp.  Here at camp, these lessons come to life and we are able to challenge the athletes on a daily basis.  However, with the current financial situation that we are in, it is very costly to fund this trip, and we need your help.  We are setting a goal of  $6,000.00 dollars to pay for the condos, gas, vans, food, and so much more.  As of right now, myself and another coach have paid over $3,000 dollars for the condos and all help would be greatly appreciated.  All the funds would go directly to paying for the athletes and their trip and allowing the athletes to enjoy a week of running camp.  We currently take 10 to 12 athletes, and all the runners have to earn that spot through tough summer training.  Then they have to run a tough three mile time trial to solidify that spot.  This trip means so much to me and the program because they are given the opportunity to devolop strong friendships, run in amazingly beautiful spots, meet top tier athletes part of the Mammoth Track Club, take tours through a hospital and learn about physical thearapy, hike to waterfalls, participate in team activities, and learn life skills like cooking, and cleaning and being responsible young men.  This camp has been amazing in the past, and it would be a shame to not be able to go.  Buena High School cross country cannot thank you enough for the support you give.  We appreciate all you do for us.  Anything helps.  Thank you so much.
