Bryan family recovery after Irma

Donation protected
To all of you out there wondering how the Bryan family is doing here on the Northside of Saint Thomas, I wish I had better news. Simply put the losses are devastating and complete.. My home is a complete loss, and being uninsured, that means 100% complete loss…. We will be starting from scratch. My car is a complete loss from flooding and is not repairable.  I have nothing left. I am a single mom of two beautiful boys, and they are my number one priority at this point. I am faced with choices that no Mom should have to make. On Saturday we are putting my sister and 4 kids on a plane to NY to live out the school year with relatives, as school in Saint Thomas is not happening for months. I can’t imagine not seeing James every day, but I know this is the safest and best course for our survival.

I am grateful for the support of my extended family who have given generously their time and their home to get the kids to safety, but safety comes at a cost. My sister, a registered nurse,  is going with them, to care for them in a new place and will not able to work at her job anymore. My business is no longer viable on an island that is ruined and we are both without means to support our families.

And while the kids are away, we are focused and ready to start to rebuild our lives….for me from the ground up. I will need financial support for many things not the least of which is for winter clothes for kids who never needed any.  We are applying all over the place for assistance from FEMA and the American Red Cross. While this storm affected many people in many places, so many of you  have asked how to help. It is quite clear that I need help, so this message with information on how to. If you wish to donate to the Bryan family recovery effort, I humbly accept your gift with great thanks and appreciation of your generosity.

Attached are a few pictures to show you the impact of the storm on Saint Thomas, Hull Bay, and the Northside. We are #stthomasstrong

With gratitude and love,
Julie
