Help Nepal Earthquake Survivors

Donation protected
I was born and brought up in Kathmandu, the capital city of Nepal, and moved to Australia with my husband and my son eight years ago. I went back to Nepal to attend my brother’s wedding in April. I was supposed to come back with sweet memories and photos of the wedding, but instead I am here with horrendous memories of Earthquake that shook the whole country, including parts of Tibet and India, killing more than 6,100 people so far. The 7.8 magnitude earthquake followed by hundreds of aftershocks was enough to drench every bit of hope of a common Nepali in the affected areas.

It has been a tough time for Nepalese people whose life crumbled after the tragedy. People lost their loved ones, their homes and thousands were injured. I was caught in the scene as the earth shook with thunderous roar sending everything that stood on it (houses, trees, electricity poles etc.) into a swinging action unlike anything I had ever witnessed before. The cry of my family members in fear of losing their loved ones and the terror that loomed in their faces was incomprehensible. Those around me needed immediate help, and we did the best we could at that time to ensure everyone’s safety and wellbeing.

The current state of the country is beyond imagination and the situation of people in rural Nepal is heartbreaking. After Day 6 of earthquake, still the government and foreign relief material and rescue have not reached these places. It is understandable that due to the complexities involved in managing such large projects and distribution of aid material at Government level requires appropriate planning, which can take some time. The affected now need more help than ever…fast. So I have joined hands with some families and friends in Nepal to help the impacted people in rural areas with the contributions that we can collect. We have already started taking food materials, tents and medicines to some of these areas. Having observed that thousands of people have been left homeless with nowhere to hide, we have plans to focus primarily on, but not limited to, providing

·        tents/temporary shelters
·        food
·        water purification tablets,
·        disinfectants for temporary shelters
·        donations to re-build the homes for the affected

I urge everyone including my friends and their families to contribute to this worthy cause. Let us join hands in helping our Nepalese brothers and sisters recover from their traumatic experiences. Every donation, no matter how big or small, will be received with much appreciation.

Please feel free to share it with your friends and families, who are willing to help.

Thanking you all in advance.
