THANK YOU FOR CONSIDERING THIS CAMPAIGN.

We are Boy Scout Troop 374 in Piedmont, OK.  We really need a van!

We are a very active Troop.
We take our Scouts camping every month as well as engage in periodic community outreach throughout our region.  Many families in America, and around the world partner with Scouting to help raise their children to become confident, well rounded and educated young leaders.  A key part of this undertaking is to place Scouts in situations where they solve problems in creative and novel ways using prior training they have received through Leaders' and Parents' involvement.

Camp outs are the most effective method for Scouts to grow and learn.

Our camp outs always last from Friday evening through Sunday afternoon.  The Scouts' menu is voted upon during the prior week, groceries are bought and duties divided up all before our departure Friday evening.  The Scouts cook their own meals and clean their own cooking gear during every camp out.  Our camp outs teach Scouts to be self reliant and practical.  It's not all just  fun and games!

We need a vehicle which can carry all of our Scouts as well as tow our  trailer.
Our trailer holds all of our camping equipment and is too heavy for most of our Scouts’ parents’ vehicles to tow.

Our old school bus has fallen into disrepair.
The shop bill has knocked out our bank balance and there stands very little chance that the shop will be able to find the parts to finish the needed repairs after nearly 10 months of attention.

Sometimes there are not enough seats for the Scouts who want to come along.

A heavy duty passenger van will be perfect for carrying our Scouts, as well as pulling our trailer, with no special license required.  Our old bus requires a driver who holds a CDL (Commercial Driver’s License).

Once we actually had to pay a school bus driver to get us to summer camp.
Having a person with a CDL available to drive the bus for us used to be a big deal. Hopefully, with a van, any of our parents can drive for us even without a Commercial Driver’s License.

Our specific goal is to buy a late model Ford E350 15 passenger diesel van.
A van similar in size to the one pictured below is our goal.   We cannot, in good conscience ask only our local community for this large amount of money despite their unwavering support in the past.  This purchase will enable our current, and future, Boy Scouts affordable transit for years to come while safely exploring and learning about our world on many, many camping trips to come.

Any unused funds from this campaign will be donated to our local Piedmont Service Center.  Serving Piedmont and the surrounding communities since 2001.  The Piedmont Service Center helps families with clothes, food and senior transportation.
