Boat Runied During Harvey Evacs!

Donation protected
It was Saturday  8/26/17 when Hurricane Harvey was POUNDING the Houston Texas area.  About 1,000 miles away in Branford Florida, Jason Wayne Hunter was watching this on the news. Jason knew he had to do something. He posted on Facebook that he wanted to help. Friends encouraged him.  I exchanged a few messages with Jason on Facebook. He told me, "Man, I gotta do something!"
And...HE DID. He went to bed and tried to sleep on Saturday night.  After not being able to sleep on Saturday night...he got out of the house and hooked up his 2016 Ranger Bass Boat. Gassed up his truck and hit the road. He drove like a road warrior for about 15 hours! He ran into heavy rain and traffic delays on the way. I kept in touch with Jason and advised on traffic and weather.
During that drive, Jason made contact with his job.  He asked for a few days off to go and help in Houston. Basically, they told him  "no... you need to come to work!"  He told me, "well...I guess maybe I'm fired because those Houston people need help!"  When he told me this on the telephone, I couldn't believe it. He didn't care about the job. He was on a mission to help the people of Houston. There was initially a plan to pick me (Randal Harmon) up to go do evacs of flooded homes in Dickinson, Tx. However, while driving, Jason was contacted by Sgt. Ray Gannan from the Houston Police Department. They requested his help to get into some tough, flooded areas with police officers aboard his boat. He diverted to help HPD. He took officers out on evac and patrol missions on Monday  8/28 , Tuesday 8/29 and Wednesday 8/30. They saved several people and pets. Slept little on the floor of the police station and went back out. Jason bonded with these fine police officers and enjoyed the work. However, on one of these evac missions, Jason struck something that was in the flood water and did severe damage to his beloved bass boat. The mission was over. The boat sits in the parking lot on the pavement. It is likely a total loss. And, in humble Jason form...he wasn't very concerned!! He says "Well, at least I was able to get here and help people for a couple of days!"
It is my intention through friends near and far...let's PLEASE contribute to replace Jason's boat!  He is an avid fisherman that participates in various tournaments each year. He is a humble guy that will not ask anyone to replace his boat. I think, and you will probably agree...his boat MUST be replaced.  Jason DOES have some insurance coverage. There is a $1,000 deductible.  And, we all know how insurance companies are...he will surely have a hard time with collection the value of his boat!  And, keep in mind...he probably quit his job to come and help! Give whatever you can. Every dollar matters. Thank-you for your consideration.
