Have you ever wondered if it was possible to feed an entire city from within? It is, but it means re-thinking the way we grow food. Bmore Aquaponics wants to help Baltimore grow healthy food sustainably with a low-maintenance, budget-friendly garden system.
Aquaponics (aquaculture + hydroponics) means raising fish and plants together in an environment that benefits both. Fish waste provides fertilizer for the plants, which in turn clean the water for the fish. Our company maintains aquaponics greenhouses in Baltimore City and sets up systems for local residents and businesses
While many commercial fisheries damage natural waterways and threaten ecosystems, we raise fish with a minimal impact on the environment. We don't waste or pollute, since everything gets recycled back into the system. We build our aquaponics systems with 75% recycled or reclaimed materials and fill them with collected rainwater, thus reducing our need for new products. The food we grow is completely organic. And with help from the fish, our crops grow faster and produce more than most organic farms, in a much smaller space!
But we want to do more. Our plan is to share our knowledge and resources with the rest of the city so that everyone can benefit from this technology. We are acquiring new greenhouses, and we will GIVE THEM AWAY to the people we train. Your contribution will enable us to move forward with our education program and bring us closer to the goal of putting good food within easy reach of every person in the city.
Change the way we “sea” food!
