WWII POW Building Move

Welcome!

The remaining building from the World War 2 German POW (Prisoner of War) compound at the Reading Regional Airport is scheduled for demolition to make way for a new industrial park.

The Berks Military History Museum has permission to reclaim elements of that remaining WW2 era building.

Original wood, windows, doors, lighting, rafters, etc. will be removed, labeled, organized, and reestablished on the site of the Berks Military History Museum in Mohnton (BMHM).

A small storage building will be removed from the BMHM location and elements of the original WW 2 era German POW camp building will be incorporated into a reconstructed building display. Removed original WW2 building elements will be reconstructed and will ultimately display 1940's artifacts.

Original Reading Army Air Field WW2 maps in the possession of the BMHM museum will be a part of the display. The maps show the location of the POW camp and even have detailed diagrams of the guard towers.
