BLM Blono is so excited to announce that we are again organizing a bailout for Mother's Day!

BLM Blono is looking to reunite mothers and children for Mother's Day. We are trying to raise $3,000 towards bail for an incarcerated mother(s). This campaign seeks to reunite women and their families and raise awareness of the disparate impact of incarceration and the bail system on black women.

Do you know a mom who is currently in the McLean County Jail? Send us a message on Facebook at:  https://www.facebook.com/BLMBlono/.

-Why a bailout?

A bailout is not only a way to reunite people with their families, but it also aims to raise awareness of the disparate impact of incarceration and the bail system, especially on black women and women of color.

Even a few days in jail can ruin a person’s life. They may lose their job, their family may lose housing and some even lose their children (nomoremoneybail.org).

-"I feel weird about the idea of bailing out someone from jail..."

We encourage you to push back against this feeling and remember that the bail system is set up in a way that disenfranchises people of color and poor folks. This person is pre-trial and hasn't been convicted of any crime. They have been granted bail and if they had the means they would already have paid their bail.

*If BLM Blono is unable to identify a person in need of the bail out or there is money leftover after the bail out, all funds will be transferred to our account and given back to the community through a future bailout.

How will the money transfer work?

The money donated here on Go Fund Me will be transferred to the BLM Blono Leadership Table member (in charge of finance) who will deposit it into our BLM bank account. We will use that money to pay bail for an inmate in the McLean County Jail. We have been made aware of an inmate via community members/advertising via our Facebook page (link above). Updates will be posted here as well as our Facebook page.
