Bless the Nelsons

WHAT:  We are starting this gofundme page to help cover the medical expenses our friends have incurred for their daughter.

WHY:  Tegan, the youngest of the Nelson's three children, was born with a cleft palate and a cleft lip, requiring several surgeries in her first few months of life.

Cleft babies have the potential for hearing problems, speech problems, and feeding problems. The surgeries Tegan has undergone have given her the chance to function like she is supposed to.

We are all so very thankful and amazed at the progress Tegan has made. When you look at this beautiful girl today, you would never guess the challenges she has had to walk through so early in her young life.

WHO:  Michael and Lynelle (Tegan's parents) are two of the most giving and selfless people you could ever meet. They've moved across the country multiple times to serve in ministry and have invested in so many lives along the way.

Now it's our turn to invest in them! Michael and Lynelle are both working two jobs. Michael gets up every day at 4am to clock in for the early shift at Costco and then works during the day for a landscaping company. Lynelle does administrative work for a ministry that helps build orphanages around the world and she also works the evening shift for a catering company.

They hardly get to spend any time together as a family because they're doing all they can to pay their bills and provide for their daughters - Abigail, Kayla, and Tegan. This includes $10,000+ for medical related expenses for Tegan's surgeries.

For all the people who have been impacted by the Nelson family, will you consider gifting a donation this Christmas to help cover the medical expenses for their daughter, Tegan.

THE GOAL:  Our goal is to raise $10,000 by December 20th, 2015.

There will be additional surgeries Tegan will have to go through as she gets older, so any additional money raised will go towards future medical expenses and to pay off any other associated bills the Nelson's have.

IT'S A SURPRISE!!!

We are trying to surprise Michael and Lynelle and will tell them about the money we raise AFTER the campaign - so while we are asking you to share this with everyone you know - we don't want you to make any mention of it to the Nelson's :)

[Update]: The surprise of this campaign lasted all of about 4 hours - (thanks Facebook :)) BUT - The Nelsons both through tears expressed how thankful they are for all the love and support shown by this campaign.

They also agreed to not visit this page so that the AMOUNT raised will still be a surprise! We will be hosting a private gathering with their family to reveal the amount to them on December 20th and will video record the announcement and then share it back with all of you!

So feel free to share this on Facebook or wherever you can help spread the word. Just please don't share the AMOUNT raised :)

WHAT YOU CAN DO:

1) Make a donation. Your donation can be anonymous if you choose.

2) Share the link for this campaign on Facebook. Use the hashtag #BlessTheNelsons so we can all share on getting the word out. And be sure to write a personal note for why you are asking people to help.

3) Remember: When you share please don't post any amounts raised so we can keep that part a surprise until December 20th when we reveal it to the Nelsons.

All we need is for you to consider donating even $10 or whatever you can to their fund to bless the Nelsons.

Please don't feel obligated, but when a community acts to help another it's surprising what an impact can be made with a large amount of small contributions. Every little bit helps!
