Five Times Foster Blessing in Wylie, Tx

Marissa & Charles have recently received temporary custody of 5 of their nieces & nephews.  The children had been in & out of Dallas area shelters for many months. Because they had spent so many nights in the shelter, they were kicked out of the child/family section and forced into general population, and were having to sleep on the ground next to complete strangers.   Marissa & Charles had been caring for them on the weekends, in an effort to shelter them from harsh life on the streets.  Once they were forced into general population, Marissa and Charles could no longer stand to let the children remain there.

As the situation grew worse,  the couple prayed about the decision to taken them in & care for them.  The children were not being bathed, fed,  or cared for.  They reported having to eat out of garbage cans & off the ground.  None of the children were receiving medical or dental care, either.  Each time that Marissa tried to take the kids back after a weekend together, the children would cry & beg to stay.  They were failing out of school & in serious need of medical / dental. One of the children had 20 cavities.

Prior to taking on these children, Marissa & Charles were living in a 2 bedroom, 800 sq ft townhouse.  The children didn’t mind, as they were just happy to have a place to call home.  The family was recently able to move into a much needed 4 bedroom house, but with a larger house, comes larger bills.  The kids were enrolled in better schools, able to attend church regularly, and were able to attend a much better daycare facility while Marissa and Charles worked to support their new family.

Marissa works at a local food pantry to help support her family, but recently had to take a leave of absence - because child care benefits for the children has been suspended.  Their biological mother is not willing to aid them in receiving any sort of government assistance for the kids.  Because the kids recently lost their childcare benefits,  Marissa & Charles have been working alternating night shift schedules, to try to make ends meet, in the interim.

While they’ve been caring for FIVE young children, it has recently come to their attention that there is a possible sixth child (another nephew) who is not being cared for & in need of a safe home.

Marissa praises God that their basic needs have been met, day by day.  However, this family could use help to cover expenses that have incurred as a result of taking in 5 young siblings.  As fall & winter approach, there will be a need for warm clothes, hats, & other necessary items.  Any contributions made will go directly to this family’s immediate needs (housing, utilities, diapers, food & clothing).

Charles & Marissa have been trusting God to provide daily, knowing that He has everything under control.  Please bless them with any amount you feel called, as every bit helps.

Blessings!
