When a family hears the devastating news that their baby has died, we don't often think about the providers who must deliver it. After three miscarriage, a stillbirth, and an infant death following poor prenatal diagnosis, we have been on the receiving end of both supportive, affirming caregivers and negative, dismissive ones. We know the difference a caring provider makes.
This year for Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness month, we want to focus on those positive experiences by saying thank you. Thank you for staying with us. For crying with us. For encouraging us during stressful subsequent care- be it for infertility, recurrent loss, or an anxiety ridden full term pregnancy.
Most of all, thank you for your service.
Funds raised will be used to send thank you care packages to providers of compassionate, life-affirming, care for families facing pregnancy and infant loss. Each care package will include a thank you card, book, and collection of prayers and resources to support their unique patient care role. Our goal is to send at least 1 box to each of the 50 states, and to send 100 boxes total!
That's where you come in! Donate as little or as much as you are able- each box is estimated at $10 to fill, package, and ship. We will collect money from October 1-15, 2018 and the thank you care packages will be sent in early November. Watch Work and Play, Day by Day social media accounts for updates. If you are donating in memory of a little one gone to soon, please leave a comment with a name and we will add each one to a collage to be included with the care packages. If you have experienced excellent bereavement care following miscarriage, stillbirth, or infant loss and would like to nominate your doctor or clinic to receive a thank you. Please fill out this form.
