Black Healing Space

According to statistics from many sources, the United States is now more segregated than it was during the Jim Crow Era. I don't know how you feel about me this, but this realization is shocking to me. Despite efforts to integrate, there are still various pockets of different types of POC as well as European-Americans, and the problems in the black community, the African-American community, are still present and increasing with every new administration. It is time, I think, for some healing to take place in the Africa-American community that will not happen by itself and hasn't been happening through the existing institutions. This can only happen if there are Healing Spaces set aside for African-Americans where African- Americans can address issues that they are specifically affected by in the United States. For this reason I am looking for a space where we can do a healing workshop for African-Americans. This is in no way a nationalistic movement, nor is it a way to raise the wants, needs, and desires of black people above other POC and disenfranchised European-Americans, it is an attempt to enter into a conversation that has needed to happen in the Americas for more than 400 years. I feel a great urgency for such a workshop now, considering our administration and the increasing attacks by deranged individuals on innocent black people and people of color who are only guilty of trying to exist and partake of the promise of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. It is hopeful that it will become an ongoing program, eventually, with multiple sites. Through live workshops and interviews of experts provided with a small stipend on my blog talk radio show, I would like to drive the conversation through education and personal interaction. As a student of several forms of meditation including moving and sitting meditation, and person with a D. Min. Dissertation focusing on Finding the Roots of Linked Oppression and Using Alternative Methodology to Heal from the Effects, I recognize that many people are suffering even more than two years ago and that such a workshop is imperative during this time period.
